A school closure, caregiver illness, schedule change or short-term work assignment can leave a family needing childcare quickly. Temporary childcare can bridge that gap, but parents should still verify licensing, availability and required enrollment records before care begins.
What temporary childcare means
Temporary childcare is care for a limited period rather than a permanent weekly schedule. It may be needed for one day, several days or a short block of weeks. Availability depends on the provider’s licensed capacity, staffing, the child’s age and the requested hours.
When families use temporary care
- A regular provider is closed or unavailable.
- A parent has an appointment, training or temporary work schedule.
- Relatives who normally help are out of town.
- A family is transitioning between childcare arrangements.
- A child needs a short-term local option while the family visits or relocates.
What to confirm before booking
- The program is licensed and serves your child’s age.
- Space is available for the exact dates and hours requested.
- You understand tuition, payment and cancellation terms.
- All required California enrollment and health forms are complete.
- The provider has emergency contacts, allergy information and authorized pickup names.
- You know what meals, diapers, clothing or comfort items to bring.
Temporary childcare at NWODC
New World of Discovery Childcare may offer licensed temporary childcare in Concord for children ages 0–5, from one day depending on availability. Families benefit from bilingual English–Spanish care, healthy meals included and convenient weekday hours from 6:45 AM to 6:00 PM.
Submitting an availability request does not reserve or guarantee a space. NWODC must confirm capacity and receive the required documents before care begins.
