Illness & Exclusion Policy
New World of Discovery Childcare (NWODC) is committed to maintaining a healthy environment for all children and staff. To reduce the spread of illness, children who are sick should remain at home.

• Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
• Contagious illnesses such as chickenpox, measles, or hand-foot-and-mouth disease
• Severe cough or difficulty breathing
• Unidentified rashes
• Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
• Any illness that prevents the child from participating in normal activities
If a Child Becomes Ill at the Childcare
If a child becomes sick during the day, parents or guardians will be contacted and asked to pick up the child as soon as possible.
Return to Childcare
Children may return to childcare when:
- They have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication
• Vomiting or diarrhea has stopped for at least 24 hours
• A healthcare provider has cleared the child to return if required
Medical Documentation
In some cases, the childcare may request a doctor’s note confirming the child is safe to return to the program.
